Hot HR Update 6-10 February

What's Hot in HR this week?

This week's update from Hot HR, provides you with current updates from Ward Hadaway, Hot HR's only employment law specialist along with a sample of interesting discussions and updates for you to to read, join in and comment on.

FROM WARD HADAWAY:
* Protective disclosures in the workplace – an employee's obligations
* Taxable payments to employees under TUPE transfers
* Government launches regional mediation networks

DISCUSSIONS:
*  It's now official - those employed on or after 6 April this year WILL need 2 years' service to claim unfair dismissal (UFD). The relevant amending legislation was published this afternoon.
* Have to admit that I had no idea what this Facebook Timeline is all about, but here is someone who does! Informative read I think.
*   Mediation - woefully under-used but the government is actively promoting it as alternative to tribunals. I have a new checklist on "Mediation in the Workplace" which members may find useful.
